Leading around International Women’s Day on March 8, O-lay India launched their #FaceAnything effort showcasing the stories and triumphs of a diverse selection of Indian women who have been fearless in achieving their visions and ambitions despite all odds. The campaign enlists women like fashion-designer Masaba Gupta, celebrity and TV host Kubbra Sait, plus-sized model Payal Soni, motorcyclist Priyanka Kochhar and YouTube celebrity Lilly Singh since they all of the challenges they had to manage to get to the places that they have been today.
The O-lay #FaceAnything campaign emboldens women to be true for them. Fashion designer Masaba Gupta speaks about maybe not having the ability to fit in to conventional beauty standards and getting unhappy with the way she looked. “Until about 2-2, I was not okay with the way I looked. My skin colour, my hair, my physique, nothing conformed. However, when somewhere down the point I realised I am the sole’me’ outthere. I became who I am now, and now I love everything I do because I love the way I am,” she says in the video.
On the other hand, celebrity Kubbra Sait talks about the backlash she faced for her corporate job to chase a career in entertainment. She says,”I abandon a cushy, high-paying, almost perfect job to do what I was really meant to accomplish: talk talk talk talk talk talkabout I was almost 30, but there is never an age to complete what you like, right? Can it be scary? Yes. Do I regret any of it? Not 1 bit.” Speaking about professional and personal challenges also, plus-sized model Payal Soni talked about breaking into a challenging industry. “Fighting bias, that is the hardest thing to perform. India is perhaps not fully prepared to adopt the plussize modelling business, however, you know everything? While I look in the mirror, I notice courage, ” I visit ambition, ” I see a huge fat smile and nothing else”
