Gaurav Gulati, a Delhi-based lawyer has filed a case against Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Rakul Preet Singh, and 34 other celebrities. These Bollywood and Tollywood celebs were targetted for allegedly disclosing the name of the Hyderabad rape victim.
This horrifying incident of Telangana came into the limelight in the year 2019. A girl was raped and burnt alive by four men in the outskirts of Hyderabad. The case was so scary and upsetting that even celebrities took to their media handles to show their grief and share messages regarding the same. While doing so, most of them forgot the ethics and revealed the victim’s identity which now backfired and got them into legal trouble. As per the latest reports, the case has been registered against Anupam Kher, Farhan Akhtar, Maharaja Ravi Teja, Allu Sirish, and others by lawyer Gaurav Gulati. It is legally unethical to reveal the name or identity of a rape victim in the media or any other public platform.
Gulati has allegedly demanded the arrest of these celebrities for showing no social responsibility regarding the privacy of the victim. It was reported that a complaint has been filed under section 228 (A) in the Sabzi Mandi Police Station and also a petition was filed in the Tees Hazari Court. The lawyer stated that celebrities of such huge stature should have set an example for others. Instead, they forgot their moral ethics and went on to reveal the victim’s name in their social media profiles.
