Covid pandemic has affected every field and our film industry is not safe from it either. Yet another project to fall victim to the same is Ajay Devgan – Siddharth Malhotra starrer ‘Thank God’.
The shooting for the film hasn’t even begun yet and it is already in the red for rs.2 crore. As the shooting was set to start in April of 2021, the producers had already built the set for the shoot, which had to be knocked down due to the restrictions imposed by the Maharashtra government.
The movie was in the works from the year 2019 and shot its mahurat scene in January of this year. Besides Ajay Devgan and Siddharth Malhotra, the movie also stars Rakul Preet Singh in the lead role.
A source close to the movie has disclosed that the producers decided to take on the loss of Rs 2 crore by deconstructing the set as keeping it on would have incurred them more losses. They estimated that paying rent per day could cost them much more as it is not yet clear when the restrictions will be lifted and the shooting will commence.
Ajay Devgan has been busy these days with the Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Mayday’ of which he is also the director. Whereas Siddhart Malhotra is also working on his other project ‘Mission Majnu’ and was supposed to start shooting for Thank God after completing this film.
Thank God is a comedy movie which is produced by T-series and Maruti International and is written and directed by Indra Kumar. Ajay Devgan and Indra Kumar have already teamed up in 2019 for the movie ‘Total Dhamaal’.
