Rakul Preet Singh is all set to play a condom tester in RSVP’s Chhatriwaali

Rakul Preet Singh is finally coming up with her first solo project and it’s said to be an unconventional one. The actress made her Bollywood debut in 2014 with Divya Khosla Kumar’s ‘Yaariyan’. According to sources, Rakul has signed the contract for her upcoming female-centric movie which will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s film company – RSVP.

Rakul Preet Singh will be essaying the role of a condom tester in the social comedy film. The film’s shooting will proceed under the directorial wings of Marathi filmmaker Tejas Vijay Deoskar who is known for Madhuri Dixit’s Marathi film debut – Bucket List. The makers have locked a name for the film and will disclose it soon.

According to sources, the makers of the upcoming RSVP film are planning to call it ‘Chhatriwaali’. The film gets this rumoured name from the fact that condoms are often referred to using the term ‘chhatri’ in the various local languages. While Sardar and Grandson which will also be starring Arjun Kapoor, Neena Gupta, and John Abraham were supposed to be Rakul’s digital debut, Chhatriwali is also being discussed to be released on OTT like RSVP’s yet another project ‘Dhamaka’ which stars Kartik Aaryan.

Chhatriwaali will be an eccentric social comedy movie that tries to destigmatise the usage of condoms as Indians still shy away from mentioning the word, let alone buy condoms. The film will join the list of bold yet humorous movies like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Vicky Donor, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, and Dream Girl.

The film was originally offered to the upcoming Bollywood actresses, Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday but they declined the role. Sara supposedly refused the role after the narration while Ananya and her team felt that taking up the role would be too bold of a move for her.
